March 6, 2017

March 6 was established in 2012 by the European Parliament as The European Day of the Righteous, a celebration of who have stood up against crimes against humanity.

It commemorates the death of Moshe Bejski, a prisoner in Belzec concentration camp who was saved by Oskar Schindler when the industrialist drafted him to work in his factory.

From 1970 to 1975, Bejski chaired Yad Vashem’s Commission of the Righteous whose core goal is to recognize gentiles who, at personal risk and without a financial or evangelistic motive, chose to save their Jewish brethren from the ongoing genocide.

Yad Vashem is Israel’s official memorial to victims of the Holocaust.
