Data Privacy Day

January 28 is Data Privacy Day in commemoration of the day in 1981 when the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection was signed by the European Council.

More recently, On December 4, 2020, the United States signed into law H.R. 1668, the “Internet of Things Cybersecurity Improvement Act of 2020.” The Act establishes security standards for Internet of Things (IoT) devices that are owned or controlled by the Federal government and requires the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create minimum cybersecurity standards for such devices.

ATTENTION TEACHERS: The National Cybersecurity Alliance is one of the major players in consumer education, advocacy, and reform in online security. The site has an impressive amount of information, materials, videos, and free online courses.
